Dear all,
Thank you for your continuing support of the MIT Association of Japan.
We will be holding a special lecture by Dr. Robert Feldman, who has been on stage of World Business Satellite on a regular basis and well known for his sharp insight.
He will be presenting on how technology penetration influences future economy.
After his presentation, we plan to have some networking time. At the networking portion, participants will be able to select from 7 segments/topics that apply to them, so that they can build networks on topics of common interest.
We welcome all foreign university alumni clubs and their friends to the event!

Summary of Lecture Content:
Japan and the world face many big problems: … Food, Energy, Water, Pensions, Medical Care, Future of Work, Income Disparities, etc. However, we have many big solutions as well, such as AI, deep learning, advances in battery storage, drones, space science, biotech, FinTech, etc.
The key to tackling these problems will be faster diffusion of new technology. We can do this through better “technology teamwork.” We need to create a more interactive innovation process that intertwines education, science, engineering, invention, entrepreneurship, corporations, and employment.
Frequent communication across silos will increase the speed of technology development and diffusion, and lead to new solutions for our many big problems. For business, the key is to create a more dense network among the components of the innovation process, and thus invent new technology, create new markets, and grasp new opportunities.

講演内容：
日本や世界は今大きな課題を抱えています。食糧、エネルギー、水資源、年金、医療介護、将来の職種、収入格差などです。一方私たちは大いなる解決策も持ち合わせています。人工知能、深層学習、蓄電技術の進化、ドローン、宇宙科学、バイオテクノロジー、フィンテックなどです。
カギとなるのは新しいテクノロジーの普及がより早く浸透することにあります。実現の近道は「テクノロジーのチームワーク」を構築することです。そのためには教育、科学、エンジニアリング、発明、起業、法人化、雇用を通じ、より双方向のイノベーションの仕組みを生み出す必要があります。
縦割りでない横断的な密度の濃いコミュニケーションを通じ技術発展と普及の代謝を高めていく事で、直面する大きな問題を解決に導くことです。ビジネスにとって、イノベーション過程での構成要素をより高密度のネットワークでつなげることがカギとなります。こうして新しいテクノロジーを生み出し新たな市場を創出し、新たな機会をもたらすのです。
プロフィール：
1970年に米国からAFS 交換留学生として初来日、名古屋で1年間過ごす。イエール大学で経済学／日本研究の学士号を取得後、ニューヨーク連邦準備銀行、およびチェース・マンハッタン銀行に勤務。マサチューセッツ工科大学に1978～1984年在学し経済学博士号を取得。
1983～89年、国際通貨基金（IMF）のアジア部、欧州部、調査部に勤務。1990～97年、ソロモン・ブラザーズ・アジア証券で主席エコノミストを務める。1998年2月モルガン・スタンレー証券会社（現：モルガン・スタンレーMUFG 証券株式会社）に入社。2003年4月より株式調査部長、2007年12月より経済調査部長、2012年7月よりチーフエコノミストに就任。日本経済の見通しや金融市場動向及び政策動向の予測を行うとともに、テレビ番組出演や雑誌寄稿、講演などの対外活動にも積極的。
