(CUAAJ Event) Speech by Dr. Daichi Suzuki 
(Commissioner of the Japan Sports Agency and an '88 Olympic Gold Medalist)

The Columbia University Alumni Association of Japan (CUAAJ) cordially invites all Columbia alumni and friends to the first lecture event of 2017. Dr. Daichi Suzuki, Commissioner of the Japan Sports Agency and a Gold Medalist in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, will speak about “Strategies for Ultimate Success – Leadership from Rio to Tokyo."
In addition to being an Olympic gold medalist, Dr. Suzuki has served as a professor of Juntendo University with a Ph.D. in medical science. After serving as the President of the Japan Swimming Federation, he became the commissioner of the newly launched Japan Sports Agency in fall 2015. He is working diligently to invigorate the sports infrastructure as well as using sports activities as inspirations for our society, economy, and culture. Dr. Suzuki holds many convincing theories on leadership and organization, based on experiences and insights from his varied career. In his talk, Mr. Suzuki will explore issues brought up by observing the 2016 Rio Olympics and Paralympics this past summer. He will also highlight strategies to ensure the success of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The speech will be a wonderful opportunity to learn about how we approach the upcoming Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
