概要：日本にあふれる「おかしな英語」や不正確な機械翻訳。こんな日本の現状の是正をめざして、昨年、コロンビアビジネススクール卒業生有志による「日本の英語を考える会」が発足しました。「おかしな英語」の実例と共に、同会の活動をご紹介します。
Title: Taking a Close Look at Public English in Japan
Speech Outline:
Public English in Japan is full of strangely worded or even unintelligible English. A group called the “Association for the Improvement of Public English in Japan", comprised mainly of female Columbia Business School graduates, was established in June 2020 to address this issue.
The chairperson and a director of the association will share their thoughts, as well as why and how the association is taking on the challenges of improving the current situation in Japan.

「日本の英語を考える会」:
公共の場における「日本の英語」を「伝わる英語」へと改善していくことをめざし、コロンビアビジネススクール卒業生など有志8名により2020年発足。内外主要メディアへの発信や、行政・自治体への英語表記改善提案等を行っている。

Association for the Improvement of Public English in Japan:
Founded in 2020 by eight members who are primarily CBS graduates, the association aims to improve English in public venues in Japan. It has been actively engaging with municipal governments, making proposals to improve poor English found on municipalities’ websites, publications, and signage. The Association has so far received a wide media coverage since its inception, including major broadcasts and publications in and outside of Japan.
