IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

The event is cancelled due to weather forecast.

Message from Georgetown organizer.

I am writing to let you know that we have unfortunately decided to cancel this year's Hanami.
Although it appears that the weather may hold for Sunday, we have the following concerns:
1. Looking at the rainfall expected today and tomorrow, the ground will be pretty muddy 
(We were hoping it would just be light rain but the amount of rain we experienced this morning will make the grounds very wet and not enough time to dry off by Sunday)
2. Temperature will be fairly cold.  Weather forecast expects a high of 12~15 degrees celsius and looks like it will hover around 10 degrees until noon. 
3. Depending on the weather forecast, the chance of rain is 40%~80% on Sunday - it appears the weather is pretty unpredictable, especially in the afternoon.
Even if we did go forward with the Hanami, it may be pretty uncomfortable, which we don't want anyone to experience.
Unfortunately, by the following weekend, the cherry blossoms will be gone, so we have decided to cancel this year's Hanami.
We have updated the Notion page and the FB event page accordingly.
After monitoring a few weather forecasts, it looks like Saturday 29th is going to rain.
So for now, we would like to reschedule the Hanami to Sunday March 30th, 10AM-3PM
Notion website has been updated.

FB event page has also been updated.

Sun 30th weather is still a bit up in the air with conflicting forecasts between the weather services.

We will keep monitoring the forecast for the 30th and will update you via email (and update the Notion website, and FB event page) by Friday March 28th on the final decision.

Backup - Sunday March 30th, 2025 if it rains on March 29th.

People are free to come and go during the day but the park gates close at 4PM.

RSVP: No need to do it, but just to get an idea of how many people are coming as Columbia family, please sign up from the link with your name, contact, school and the year of your graduation.

Followings are things that we would like you to do.
• We ask that participating groups assist with the following:
o Bring picnic sheets to help secure space in the park. (The gathering keeps getting bigger as the years go on so we do need help in securing space where we can all hang out)
o Bring food, drinks, utensils, etc. to share.
o Clean up the area before leaving the venue.
