The Japan Chapter of Columbia Venture Community (CVC) is pleased to invite you to a virtual session with Riichiro Kimura, Investment Group Director at Global Brain.
About Global Brain
Global Brain is an independent venture capital firm based in Tokyo with offices in US, UK, Germany, China, South Korea, India and Singapore. It supports startups on a global scale with the aim to create new industries through full hands-on support, global ecosystem, and open innovation between startups and large corporations. Along with our flagship funds, Global Brain currently manages CVC funds with 19 industry-leading companies, surpassing $2.3B in AUM.
About Riichiro Kimura
Riichiro joined Global Brain (GB) in 2020, focusing on investments in the climate tech and circular economy sectors in North America and Europe from the New York office.
Prior to GB, he worked at BASF in Germany and the U.S., where he gained diverse experience in R&D and strategic raw material sourcing. As a chemist, he led R&D projects for clean technology development. In the procurement department, he was a member of the Center of Excellence team, responsible for raw material sourcing and strategic projects.
Riichiro holds a PhD in Engineering from the University of Tokyo and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

GB参画以前は、BASFのドイツ本社、北米支社にて、研究開発および原料調達業務を経験。博士（工学）として、クリーンテック分野の材料研究開発を主導。その後、購買部では、センター・オブ・エクセレンスの一員として、原料調達や戦略的ソーシング業務に携わる。
東京大学大学院工学系研究科にて博士号（工学）を取得。また、コロンビア・ビジネススクールにてMBAを取得。
